OK,

I found about using "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlCOM Name Arbiter" to assign my own COM port numbers :-)

I have the same problem - could you be a bit more explicit about the procedure? Thanks! -

Yes, I have the same problem too. My GPS is on COM9. Can you please explain how I can fix MeHere to look at COM9???

Solution 1. try to uninstall some hardware that is using a com port then install your gps so that it becomes under COM9, reinstall other comport hardware.

I know it is a crappy way to do it but it worked for me

Alternatively you can use a program like GPSGate which uses one gps and creates several com ports that are configuable for the same reciever allowing you to run several programs simultaneously using the same reciever. It works for me.

To change COM port #s see here:

http://technet2.microsoft.com/windowsserver/en/library/1adb7720-efd2-4d10-b80b-fa973eb18f9b1033.mspx?mfr=true

Or just go to a terminal and type:

change port com12=com1

Very easy to fix:
go to: http://www.serial-port-mapper.com/serial-port-mapper-download.html

(15days free-trial), the program lets you map all com-ports you have on your PC. MAP/SWAP both!
